Why Taglish?
Taglish isn't just a mix of Tagalog and English, the two main languages in the Philippines - it is a cultural phenomenon that reflects our identity and upbringing. I was supposed to pick up a friend once, but since traffic was bad, I was running late. I called my friend and told her "mga 2 minutes na lang". My husband (who was driving) who doesn't speak Tagalog somehow understood me because I spoke Taglish :)
You may not know it, pero Taglish is integrated into our everyday Filipino conversation, phrases like "grabe, ang traffic!" (and syempre dahil traffic) "hala, late na ako". These examples show how Taglish allows us to express emotions and convey messages efficiently, drawing from both English and Tagalog to create a uniquely Filipino linguistic experience.
Still not convinced? how about "so pretty naman", "push mo yan", "wait lang" or "sana all!" We hear these phrases every single day in our interactions making it part of our Filipino language and culture to the point na hindi na natin napapansin na taglish na pala yun.
