Hi TeeEasePh family! It's summer and it is time to enjoy the outdoors. Time to explore new activities, spend time with loved ones. Sometime we plan on going on a cruise to the Bahamas or a staycation on our dream resort but unfortunately our budget says otherwise.
But who said we can't have fun and create memorable activities with our kids on a tight budget? We discover budget-friendly activities that let us experience the beauty of the season without straining our budget.
And the best part? you don't have to spend a lot to have an amazing summer!
Picnic in the Park
This is my favorite summer activity. I get so excited thinking how I can make the experience truly memorable. My husband and I normally would prepare everything in advance and wake up early to find the best spot in the park. Picnic in the park offers a chance to relax and unwind in a natural setting. To be connected with nature and just enjoy time with loved ones. Good food, good friends, wonderful memories!
Here's some tips:
- Select a park that is easily accessible and has amenities like picnic tables, restrooms and playgrounds if you're brining kids.
- Prepare simple and delicious foods that are easy to transport, doesn't spoil and not messy to eat.
- Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. You can also bring soda or juice boxes. For me I bring the small ones para no need to use plastic cups. Easy to open, easy to clean up.
- Don't forget the extras! Napkins, utensils, cutting board (for cutting fresh fruits!), charcoal, lighter (very important lalo kung mag bbq), blanket for lounging on the grass and trash bags to clean up after your picnic
- Bring along a frisbee, a ball, board games or deck of cards (1-2-3 pass anyone?) or a kite for some fun activities. A portable speaker for music para walang dull moment
Picnic in the park is an affordable way to enjoy the season and create memories with friends, kaya go plan and enjoy a day of fun and relaxation!
Bike Rides with the Family
One of the most delightful and budget-friendly activities to consider is going on bike rides. Whether you're cruising through your neighborhood or exploring a local park, biking offers an excellent way to stay active, enjoy nature and create lasting memories. Here are some tips to make you family bike rides fun and memorable this summer:
- Plant your route. Start by planning a scenic and safe route that everyone in your family can enjoy. Look for bike-friendly trails or parks in your area. Choose a route that matches the skill level of your youngest riders to ensure everyone has a good time.
- Pack the essentials. Before heading out, make sure you have all the essentials. Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated, snacks like granola bars, fruit or trail mix are great for keeping your energy levels up. Have a basic first-aid kit in your car or in your backpack, just in case of minor scrapes or cuts.
- Safety first. Make sure everyone wears a properly fitted helmet. Check that your bikes are in good working order before you set out - inspect the tires, brakes and gears. Teach kids the basic hand signal for turning or stopping.
- Make it fun. Turn your bike ride into an adventure by incorporating fun activities. Plan stops along the way at interesting spots like playground, or ice cream shops :)
After a day of biking, reward everyone with a treat. Celebrating the end of your bike ride with a treat reinforces the fun and gives everyone something to look forward to.
Summer back home in the province means sleeping in, playing outside and just having a relax, lazy day. We did not have bike trails or good park to have a picnic. So go out and enjoy the perks and amenities of living in a place that has a good park and a scenic bike trail.
Creating memories with your kids and family is possible even if we are tight on budget, keri natin yan!
