Can you believe we're on our third blog? Lately things are not turning out the way I want it but the Filipino in me would say 'Bahala na si Batman'. If there is one thing Filipinos are known for, it is our incredible ability to face adversity with a smile and a joke. Humor is part of our culture, serving as a coping mechanism and a way to stay connected.
The Role of Humor in Filipino Culture
In my last blog, I somehow touched this topic on how humor is important in our culture, it's what makes us Pinoy. Kahit may bagyo, naka smile pa din. Walang kuryente, kagigiliwan na lang ang sardinas. Remember, nagawan pa nga ng kanta ang sardinas :)
We use humor to lighten the mood and bring people together. We can easily have tons of memes in social media, ang bilis gumana ng utak natin pagdating sa ganyan. Humor helps us maintain a positive outlook even in the face of difficulties.
Laughing at a problem can often make it seem less daunting. A smile or a laughter provides a mental break from stress, allowing people to return to their challenges with a clear, more optimistic perspective. In short, stress reliever natin ang pagpapatawa. Problemado na nga, malungkot pa?
Sharing a joke and a laughter creates a sense of camaraderie and solidarity. In tough times, humor can strengthen relationships by creating a sense of unity and mutual support. We would say, 'Kapit ka lang best' as our way to support another during tough times.
Humor builds resilience by encouraging a mindset that looks for the silver lining in every situation. This resilience is what helps us Filipinos bounce back from hardships stronger than before.
